Welcome
to the Cognitive and Affective
Approaches to Language Lab!
The CoALa Lab explores how bi- and multilingual children and adults learn, process, and represent grammatical and lexical knowledge. We understand the term „cognitive” broadly as referring to the mental processes involved in knowing, learning, and understanding things — in our case, language. We are also interested in the interface between language and cognition, including the foreign language effect.
CoALa houses state-of-the-art equipment and laboratory space for conducting reaction time (Black Box ToolKit systems) and eye-tracking research (Tobii eye-tracking systems).
We are based in the Faculty of Modern Languages and Literatures at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań.
